New to Baby Duck Shop is the fabulous ewan the dream sheep™ and the easidream soothing system® a revolution in sleep technology and great for helping your little ones sleep.

So how do they work???

ewan the dream sheep™ emits soothing sounds at a low base frequency and a calming pink glow, which when combined, help settle your little one into a peaceful sleep. The heartbeat and womb sounds are actual recordings, not computer generated and these really do have a calming effect. For those children who are slightly older, there are ‘pink noise’ sequences - similar to white noise, but more effective with babies, combined with the heartbeat recording. Hoover, rain and harp recordings together with the womb sequence, provide 4 different calming sound tracks to choose from. The sounds were trialled on 30 different babies to find the most effective ones and these were then included in our final ewan the dream sheep™. He seems to be going down a treat and is even calming older children too… up to age 7yrs so far! ewan the dream sheep™ can be used at home – cot, moses basket etc and also when out and about too, as he can be secured to the pushchair or car seat by his Velcro tail.

The easidream® soothing system is a revolution in baby care. A new baby sleep product that is proven to soothe your baby to sleep safely and effectively. The easidream® system is unique. A simple but clever device that sits under any cot mattress to mimic the soothing environment of the womb, combined with ewan the dream sheep™, a toy with sound and light, to calm your baby and help them drift off into a long and peaceful sleep. easidream® can be used from birth in almost any cot and helps your baby establish a healthy sleep pattern.

A slim line ventilated platform fits under your baby’s cot mattress. Air tubing links this to a control unit that operates the functions. The platform can either rock gently from head to toe or roll gently from side to side. There is a timer for up to 40 minutes and a choice of 2 speed settings, one in time with mum's resting heartbeat and a slower speed setting that can be used for weaning off at a later stage. The platform is pneumatically powered so there are no worries about anything electrical being in the cot. In the early stages of your baby’s life easidream® can even be used in a moses basket. You just place the platform on the floor and place the basket on top.

Working together, the platform and ewan the dream sheep™ provide soothing motion with calming sounds and glow and in a short time you can create the perfect combination to help your baby drift off into a long and peaceful sleep.

The University of Brighton have carried out extensive research trials. They showed that by using easidream® average crying time was reduced from 18 minutes to less than 1 minute and babies remained happy and safely 'self settled' on their back. Equally impressive was that time taken to settle was often reduced by an amazing 90%!

Positive feedback from grateful ‘well rested’ parents has been overwhelming; for a great night’s sleep easidream® really can provide the precious ‘gift of sleep.’

You can find both ewan the dream sheep™ and the easidream soothing system® in our new Sleepytime section along with some other great items for help with that all important sleep! ewan the dream sheep™ and the easidream soothing system® both come with free P&P to anywhere in the UK.

These gorgeous reversible dresses from Brighton designer label Sophie 4 Sophie start out as a long pinafore dress, then as your little girl grows, it becomes a short swing pinafore dress and eventually a funky top!!

The dresses are designed to fit from approximately 9 months up to 3 years which means they aren't just something that is worn for a few months then put away!

Each dress is fully reversible with a beautiful contrasting binding.

Why not team with leggings and a long sleeved top or one of our funky Toby Tiger or Piccalilly playsuits.

Sophie 4 Sophie dresses are handmade in the UK from 100% cotton and are limited edition one of a kinds so you are unlikely to bump into someone else wearing a dress like it!

Why not complete the look with a matching bib!

You may not have noticed but we don't have sleepsuits only playsuits, we chose these on purpose!

The reason for this is so that they last longer, gone are the days of them being stretched to fit over your little ones legs because you haven't been able to buy any more (how many times did I go to the supermarket to find none in my sons size!)

Because they have no feet they can be worn with socks and shoes so make great day outfits too, we have some fab matching accesories too.

So whether it is for day or night or both you can be sure these fab little suits will last your baby that little bit longer, and if you really want the feet, how about an Organics for Kids Kimono Rompers with turn up feet that can be folded back as your little one grows!

Here are some fab examples of what you can achieve and what works great for day and night!

So what is fairtrade?

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

So how can you help?

How about swapping your usual purchases for a fairtrade one, whether it be tea, coffee, chocolate or clothes. You never know once you try you might never go back!

What are we doing?

At the baby duck shop we have a great selection of Organic Fairtrade clothes for your little ones from ethical suppliers who take pride in what they make. To help you make the swap even easier we are offering 20% off all Piccalilly, Organics for Kids and the Barley & Birch Lap Tees for the duration of the Fairtrade Fortnight (whilst stocks last!)

Simply enter code FAIRTRADE at the checkout and your shopping basket will be amended automatically.

With your help and by supporting Fairtrade you are helping  hundreds of farmers and workers better their lives and that of their familes!
